Beautiful Black Forest!

Summer or winter, the Black Forest is a fascinating place. It is however particularly beautiful in the warmer months of the year when everything is flourishing and in flower. There is so much to see and discover here, for instance on one of the numerous hiking trails around Baden-Baden.

Two particularly noteworthy hiking paths within Baden-Baden’s boundaries are the Wildnispfad and the Luchspfad. As its name suggests, the 4.5 km Wildnispfad takes you through 70 hectares of wilderness left by the Lothar hurricane in 1999. Here you will be striding over tree trunks or even crawling under them – the trail is an adventure in itself! On the 4 km Luchspfad, named after the wild cats that once roamed these forests, you will be incited to creep, listen, pry and pounce like a lynx while you navigate your way along winding paths that take you over rocks and narrow bridges through the Baden-Baden forest. It’s an unforgettable experience!

If you enjoy cooling down a little in summer, I can recommend an outing to the Geroldsau waterfalls where the water is clean, clear, and, most importantly, cool. The 1.5 km walk along the banks of the Grobbach brook to the waterfalls is a pleasantly refreshing experience even on very hot days. It is particularly charming there from the start of May to June when hundreds of rhododendron bushes bordering the waterfall are in flower.

Another outing that simply must be included when visiting Baden-Baden is a ride with the funicular railway to the summit of the town’s landmark mountain: the Merkur. The unique and breathtaking 360-degree view of Baden-Baden, the Murg Valley, the Rhine Valley and the Vosges mountain range is one that you won’t forget in a hurry.

So why not start to make arrangements now and witness with your own eyes the outstanding natural beauty of Baden-Baden and the Black Forest. These excursions should on no account be missed when visiting Brenners! The ultimate experience, however, can be had with ‘Oskar’ our VW campervan: sit back and relax and you will be chauffeured to all the best day-trip destinations – and if you like, we will also include a stop for a romantic picnic.
